5 things to do within driving distance of Kelowna this winter

Although you may associate Kelowna more with summer or fall, winter brings many unique opportunities to Kelowna, providing visitors of all ages and interests with a wide range of things to do during the colder months. Here we run down 5 of our favorites.

Snowshoe tours

If you’re up for some unique exploring, rent some snowshoes in Kelowna and go explore the snow-covered Kettle Valley Railway. You can go it alone or with a professional tour guide – just keep an eye out for moose! It’s just a 33-minute drive from our kelowna auto repair shop.

Frozen waterfall sightseeing

The wonders of nature are endless, but something about a frosty waterfall is truly mesmerizing! Kelowna is surrounded by numerous waterfalls which frost over in the winter, and there are many waterfall hikes to suit hikers of all ages and capabilities. Check out Hardy Falls in Peachland, just a 30-minute drive from our shop located behind Costco.

Telemark Nordic Club

Head to the Telemark Nordic Club in West Kelowna where you can traverse over 70 km of track-set Nordic trails! The Telemark club offers rentals and lessons for people of all ages and abilities, and their trails offer unparalleled views over Okanagan Valley and the surrounding winter landscapes. This is a quick 30-minute drive after leaving our Kelowna auto service shop, ensuring your vehicle is ready for winter.

Try the wine!

Kelowna is famed for its wine country, so make sure you taste the local blends during this winter! There are numerous restaurants serving local wines, although you can also visit local breweries serving their own stouts. Summerhill Pyramid Winery offers a unique experience that is open year round. This is one of the shorter drives from our auto repair shop in Kelowna at just 15 minutes.

Go Ice Skating

Come wintertime, the Kelowna waterfront hosts a large free-of-charge ice skating rink. The rink is framed by beautiful winter lights and local cuisine from the area, offering hours of free fun for the whole family! If you don’t have your own skates, it’s no problem – you can rent them directly from the rink! Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned ice skater, you’re welcome to join in the fun on Kelowna’s annual winter skating rink! At a 10 minute drive from our location, this is a must do at least once this winter.
